Business is Good

Pete Smith, CTCB

ASBA Chairman

At the end of the summer we surveyed our builders to gauge the season and how 2016 compared to 2015. Across the board, in separate surveys of Tennis Court, Track and Field builders, business appears to be up as much as 10-20% or more for most builders. A similar survey of tennis court builders last year showed similar results, indicating at least two solid years of growth. A summary of those results are included in this issue of Newsline. Many thanks to the builders who completed these “quick pulse” surveys when they were sent out. This is valuable benchmarking information for our individual companies and ASBA can only provide it if we get a good response from our members. The next time we send out a quick pulse survey, please take 2-3 minutes to complete the information so that we can provide you with the aggregate data.

By now you should have received your membership dues renewal notices for the coming year (ASBA’s membership year begins October 1st). Please renew your membership and continue to support the efforts that ASBA is making on our behalf – with programs to increase awareness among consumers and industry partners, and education and training to enhance the pipeline for talent for our companies to hire.

I hope to see all of you December 2nd -6th at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, in Amelia Island, Florida for the Technical Meeting. This year’s meeting will feature a new “Meeting App” that has been developed to make your TM experience easier and more fulfilling. Watch for more information prior to the TM with instructions on how to download the app on your smartphones prior to arriving in Amelia Island.

ASBA committees and task forces have been very busy this year on initiatives and programs that were born from last year’s Strategic Planning exercises. We’re excited to share updates on these initiatives during the TM in December. Some of these updates will surprise you!

If you have not already made your travel arrangements for the TM, I would encourage you to book your hotel TODAY. The room block is filling quickly and we are, once again, on pace to grow our meeting attendance substantially over last year. Last-minute planners may find themselves scrambling for a hotel room.

See you in Amelia Island!
