It Has Been an Honor to Serve ASBA

Mark Brogan, CTCB

ASBA Chairman

Two years have passed since I took the gavel from Sam Fisher to assume the Chairmanship of ASBA. The time has flown, but this has been an experience of a lifetime. I continue to be honored to have served ASBA, and am prouder than ever at what our association continues to achieve.

Our certified builder programs are expanding exponentially – thanks, in part, to a new series of professional videos that promote the value of working with a certified builder. Organizations like USTA and STMA have posted these videos on their websites and continue to advocate on our behalf.

Though the past few years have been weak for some of us, particularly

in certain parts of the country, ASBA’s membership has continued to grow. Later this month, I will travel to Ontario, Canada with our Executive Director, Fred Stringfellow, to meet with members of the builder community in Canada. We’ll be promoting the benefits of membership in ASBA and encouraging them to take advantage of our meetings and programs. There is no reason why our association cannot be just as valuable to our Canadian friends as it has been for hundreds of contractors in the United States.

Several members of ASBA’s tennis division leadership worked feverishly with USTA staff and several ASBA-member acrylic manufacturers over the past year through a Line Colors Working Group. We were pleased to announce several months ago that both the USTA and ASBA websites now have blended line samples that our builders and tennis facility owners can access when considering the installation of blended lines on tennis courts. This was a resource that ASBA’s builders were looking for….and we delivered. It’s a testament to the value and increasing strength of our relationship with USTA.

Make sure you have December 6-10 on your calendar and are planning to be at the ASBA Technical Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. This year’s meeting will focus on the many “Connections” that ASBA fosters in the industry. The trade show will feature a new “Connections” lounge and we are encouraging our members to schedule meetings and appointments within the lounge – the perfect setting for your ASBA networking experience.
After a fulfilling two years as your Chairman, I’m looking forward to passing the gavel to Dan Wright and wishing him and the incoming ASBA Board of Directors my best for the coming two years. Please join me.

See you in San Antonio!
