Gordy Pierce, CTCB, Receives Industry Merit Award

Gordon Pierce, CTCB, of Cape & Island Tennis & Track in Pocassett, Massachusetts, was named the recipient of the Industry Merit Award, the Association’s highest honor.
The award was presented at ASBA’s Technical Meeting, held on Amelia Island in Florida in early December.

Over his long career, Pierce has served the Association – and its industry – in innumerable ways. He is a Certified Tennis Court Builder (CTCB) who has completed multiple terms on the Board of Directors. He founded his company, Cape & Island Tennis & Track, in 1972.

Pierce, who is a constant attendee at both Technical and Winter Meetings of the Association, has been a presenter at both meetings and has sat on the Program Committee to help develop their content. He has served as the Association’s Chairman, and has assisted with the development and refinement of the certification exams. He has also been actively involved with the USTA.

Randy Futty, who made the award presentation, mentioned Pierce’s pivotal role in the Association, and his innovative approach to the industry. He praised Pierce as a mentor to younger members of his company, and as a leader in matters of business.

Pierce, upon accepting his award, received a standing ovation from all those present. In his remarks, he thanked his co-workers, his family and also members of the Association, and encouraged all those present to become involved and active.
