Make ASBA Your New Year's Resolution

It’s always nice to come back from an ASBA Technical Meeting feeling like you are part of a larger community; and spending time with close to 400 other companies engaged in sports construction who do what we do. None of us are alone. As ASBA members we have a network of peers and, through our industry partners, a much broader network at our disposal. DETAILS

ASBA's Winter Meeting: Productivity in Paradisus

Take a short break – or a long weekend – away from your work this winter and use it in the best way possible: unwinding with ASBA and gearing up for the season ahead.

The ASBA Winter Meeting, one of the best chances to help advance the mission of the Association, will be held February 21-23, 2014 at the Paradisus Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. DETAILS

ASBA Members Get Away, Get Connected at Technical Meeting
Highest-Ever Number of Attendees Travels to San Antonio

Fresh off of one busy season, ASBA members and others in the sports facility construction industry met in San Antonio, Texas, for the association’s annual Technical Meeting. There, the hard-working pros in the industry were able to unwind, kick back and re-connect with one another. DETAILS

2013 Technical Meeting Sessions

The 2013 Technical Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, offered a broad spectrum of industry-related programming, designed to appeal to all aspects of the sports facility construction business as represented by ASBA’s divisions, including Tennis, Track, Indoor and Fields. Here are summaries of some sessions. DETAILS

ASBA Golf Tournament a Success

ASBA’s Golf Tournament, held during the Technical Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, took place in near-wintry conditions. That didn’t stop ASBA, though. Members and guests braved the chill, enjoyed the course and at the end of the event, a champion was crowned: the foursome of David Dettor, Trimmer Dettor (both of Fast-Dry Courts), Randy Futty (Connor Sport Court International, Inc.) and Tony Mackay (Court Care Systems, Inc.).

Those who are interested in a rematch should make plans to attend the Winter Meeting in the Dominican Republic – or else, can work on their game and be ready for the next Technical Meeting golf tournament, to be held in Ponte Vedra Beach at the Sawgrass Marriott.

Thank you to the 2013 Technical Meeting Golf Sponsor, Liberty Tire Recycling.

Clapp Receives ASBA Chairman's Award

ASBA made 2013 the inaugural year for its Chairman’s Award. The award, conceived by Mark Brogan, ASBA’s chairman, is given to recognize an individual who has worked behind the scenes to advance ASBA. This year, the award was presented to David Clapp, CTCB of Baseline Construction. Clapp, a Certified Tennis Court Builder, worked with the Joint Editorial Board to help complete revisions on the book, Tennis Facilities: A Construction and Maintenance Manual. In addition, he has served on committees for the Association and has assisted with meetings. ASBA extends its congratulations to David Clapp, and thanks him for his service.

May We Quote You?

One of ASBA's most important programs is its technical articles, which are written for trade magazines in various segments of the industry, including tennis, track, indoor and fields facilities. We are always looking for our members to comment on, and be quoted in these articles. This is an excellent chance to help raise ASBA's profile, and in an ancillary capacity, to increase visibility for your company. If you would like to be quoted in these articles, please send an e-mail to Mary Helen Sprecher at

Please indicate your area(s) of expertise: Tennis, Track, Indoor and/or Fields so that we do not bother you with excess e-mail. You can be added to more than one mailing list if you wish.

If you have previously sent Mary Helen an e-mail asking to be added to her e-mail list, you do not need to request again. However, if your e-mail has changed and you have not been receiving questions, please contact her with your current e-mail address.
