With the launch of one new site,
the sport of tennis is becoming
more readily available.
Over the summer, the TIA and
USTA announced the inception of
the new site,
playtennis.com. The site is
designed to help all tennis
players—whether regular, new or
returning to the game—find out
everything they need to know
about getting into the game and
playing more tennis.
Playtennis.com is a free
interactive website that allows
tennis players of any skill
level to find tennis programs,
courts, partners, teaching
professionals, retailers, and
gear, as well as provides great
instructional content. The site
was developed through a
cooperative industry effort and
conveys a simple, unified
message to get more people out
on the courts more frequently.
Playtennis.com will be
accessible on all digital
platforms—computers, tablets,
and mobile phones, including
apps for iPhone and
Android—making it easy for
players to connect anytime.
“We want this to be a site to
which everyone involved in
tennis can point players, and
potential players, as a primary
source of tennis information,”
said TIA President Jon Muir.
“The name—playtennis.com—is easy
to remember, and it says exactly
what we want people to do: Play
tennis!”
Tennis providers can be listed
in the free industry databases
so consumers can find their
businesses. To learn more about

The USTA and TIA collaborated
with tennis industry leaders,
the United States Professional
Tennis Association (USPTA), the
Professional Tennis Registry
(PTR), Tennis Channel, TENNIS
Magazine, and Tennis.com, to
launch the digital platform.
All searches on playtennis.com
can be done by anyone, whether
they’re a registered
playtennis.com user or not. In
order to contact tennis
partners, users will need to
first register and create a
profile, which utilizes the
Facebook Connect feature. It
takes only seconds to register
and create a profile, and is a
free service.
Once registered, players will be
connected to other tennis
enthusiasts. Users just enter
their ZIP code or city search,
and specify the distance they
are willing to travel to find
what they are looking for.
Playtennis.com will do the
rest—deliver the most pertinent,
up-to-date information to
players in seconds. In addition,
if a person is traveling, he or
she can use playtennis.com’s
search features to find
partners, programs, teaching
pros, and places to play while
on the road.
The playtennis.com logo will
appear in television, online and
print and social media
messaging, with a consumer
outreach and marketing campaign
that also targets the US Open
and Emirates Airline US Open
Series. In addition, the logo
will appear on 30 million cans
of tennis balls, 1.5 million
racquets and other product
