ASBA Keeps Busy During the

be meeting in mid-July for its
annual summer meeting. There are

The 2014 Technical Meeting will be held
December 5-9 at the
Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra, FL. That’s right – you
can stay on the hallowed grounds of the TPC Sawgrass, including the
world famous Stadium Course, home of THE PLAYERS Championship.

Northern Stars: ASBA Holds
Membership Events in Canada
Recently, ASBA went north of the
border to explore the
opportunity for Canadian
contractors, professionals and suppliers to
join the Association. The
meeting, held at the Sheraton
Centre Toronto in early May,
included networking, dinner and
an educational presentation on
the ASBA and its programs.
ASBA's Awards Program - An Epic
has experienced an epic year in
terms of numbers of awards
applications. A total of 89
applications was received.
Judging of the awards is
underway. Winners will be
notified of their success prior
to the Technical Meeting, and
awards will be presented at that
meeting. Note: The opening
breakfast will include
presentations of all awards,
while the category winners will
be presented at the closing
dinner. Category winners include

ASBA's Position Papers: Read All
ASBA publishes a series of
Position Papers, which are
one-page technical documents on
subjects of interest to those in
Thinking of Becoming
If you’ve been thinking of becoming a
Certified Builder with ASBA, it’s time to make that goal a reality.
Whether you want to be a CTCB, CTB, CFB, CFB-S or CFB-N, you’ll find all
the information you need to register on ASBA’s website,
www.sportsbuilders.org. From the top menu, choose “Certification”
and then select your desired exam from the drop-down menu.
Once you have all your materials, it’s time
to pick a date to take the exam. The exams will be offered on December
6, 2014 at the ASBA Technical Meeting.
The exam may also be taken at ASBA
Headquarters in Maryland. Testing is available throughout the year, but
prior arrangements are necessary.
For all test dates and locations, the
application deadline is 30 DAYS PRIOR to the exam date listed.

ASBA offers its Certified Builders two
options for keeping their designation current. The first is the option
to take the exam again. The second, however, includes an opportunity to
benefit the industry itself: recertification by acquiring continuing
education points. This includes writing technical articles for
USTA Announces 100-Court
Facility in Orlando
Back in May, USTA made what
could be considered a fairly earth-shaking announcement: the decision to
create what it called “the new home for American tennis,” a
state-of-the-art facility in the Lake Nona area in Orlando, FL.

Do you know someone (or just
know about someone) who has been a pioneer in the tennis industry, a
real trailblazer who has helped shake things up? Tennis Industry
Magazine would like to know about that person. TI is now in the second
year of running its “Pioneers in Tennis” series of articles, about
trailblazers in the sport, and is looking for nominations for people to
be featured in future columns.
