Sports Surfaces Renovates Alabama Facility
Precision Sports Surfaces, Inc. renovated the track and field facility
at Gulf Shores, AL. This is the site of the Alabama State Championships.
The existing facility was an out-of-tolerance high school venue. Working
with Ed Norton, RLA from Birmingham, Precision produced a Class 3 certified
facility that can be used for NFHS and NCAA events. The project was done
on time and on budget.
Precision Sports Surfaces staff installed a 10mm full-pour system using
Rekortan components. The first use of the facility produced fourteen
state records. The State of Virginia AAA’s are run on the same surface
at Todd Stadium in Newport News, VA.
Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. as Approved Manufacturer of Football Goal
Sportsfield Specialties Inc. (SSI) has received designation as an
approved manufacturer of football goal posts by the National Football
League. Such status has enabled the Delhi, NY-based company to expand
its NFL business through the recent sale of one set of posts to the
Carolina Panthers for Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and two sets
of posts to the Denver Broncos for newly upgraded practice fields at the
team’s training facility in Englewood, CO.
In addition to these new installations, SSI goal posts are currently in
use at two other NFL stadiums—Met Life Stadium, home of the New York
Giants and New York Jets, and University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the
Arizona Cardinals. A new set of SSI goal posts have also been ordered
for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, the future home of the San
Francisco 49ers which will open for the 2014 season. Those stadiums will
play host to the next three Super Bowls—Met Life Stadium (2014),
University of Phoenix Stadium (2015), and Levi’s Stadium (2016).
“Being cited as an approved manufacturer in the NFL’s game operations
manual validates our goal post expertise for all of the league’s 32
teams to see,” said Wayne Oliver, President of SSI. “Manufacturing
football goal posts is the biggest part of our business so we look
forward to opportunities to supply posts to more NFL teams for their
stadiums and practice facilities.”
