Calling all social media moguls (or wannabe
moguls): ASBA is now on Facebook and LinkedIn. Are you following us?
Facebook: Those who are already on Facebook can
"Like" the page (filed under American Sports Builders Association).
Once you've done that, you'll receive regular notifications of
what's trending now: notifications from the Association, news
stories pertaining to athletic facility design and construction and
more.
Chances are, once you start following ASBA,
you'll be able to catch up with industry colleagues as well -- many
of whom have their own Facebook pages (for themselves as well as
their companies). You can also post to ASBA's page if you have some
interesting industry news.
LinkedIn: If you're already on LinkedIn,
you'll find the American Sports Builders Association listed under
"Groups." Join ASBA's group and you'll receive regular e-mail
notifications of industry discussions and more. Join the talk or
just hover in the background and take it all in. You can also
connect with fellow industry members and make new contacts.
ASBA is hoping for more member use of its social
media and is looking forward to increasing its involvement there.
Your questions and suggestions for how we can do our job better are
also welcome! Call Laura Izzo at the ASBA office at
443-640-1042, x110, or contact her via e-mail at
laura@stringfellowgroup.net.
And if you're just considering diving into the
social media pool (or getting in deeper), you're in luck. A special
session at the ASBA Technical Meeting this December, "Beyond the
Like Button: The Evolution of Social Media and How It Impacts Your
Business," will deal with all these topics. It'll give you a
from-the-ground-up look at what you can accomplish using everything
from Facebook Ads to Groupon to Yelp to Foursquare. Best of all,
it's presented by Ryan Melton of the TIA -- someone who knows how to
use social media to benefit the sports industry.
