Plexipave®
Selected as the Surface for the NCAA® Division I Tennis
Championships
|
 |
Plexipave® was proud to be the
surface provider for the 2011
NCAA® Division I Tennis
Championships. The highly
anticipated competition took
place in Stanford, California,
at the Taube Tennis Center.
Plexipave Sport Surfacing
Systems are synonymous with the
prestigious ATP and WTA
tournaments, including the
Australian Open. In addition,
these advanced acrylic tennis
surfaces are installed on more
than 80 Division I university
and college campuses. All levels
of tennis players excel on a
Plexipave surface.
The Taube Tennis Center,
originally built in 1926, is
home to both the Men’s and
Women’s Stanford Tennis teams.
Dick Gould, Stanford’s Director
of Tennis, has selected
Plexipave for over 30 years for
its consistency and
dependability. The partnership
with local authorized installer,
Vintage Contractors, has also
helped provide reliable
application. “We
|
felt that Plexipave surfaces wore and
lasted well, providing
consistent playability,” Dick
Gould stated. “The speed of play
can be controlled and holds true
for a long period of time.”
The color change from the
notorious green and red Stanford
tennis courts was inspired by
the US Open blue courts. “I
found that the blue courts made
it easy to follow the ball,”
said Gould. “The blue courts
also allowed us to apply light
blue QuickStart Lines that are
much less intrusive.”
QuickStart Lines are permanent
36- and 60-foot lined courts
designed for children 10 and
under. QuickStart Tennis format
helps children learn and improve
their tennis game by using
shorter courts. A standard
78-foot court can accommodate
four 36-foot courts, or one
60-foot court. Stanford
University is home to the East
Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring
Program (EPATT™), a non-profit
youth development organization
for K-12 grade students. This 23
year old, highly acclaimed
tutoring program has been
impacting the lives of hundreds
of East Palo Alto youth. The
Taube Tennis Center has hosted
EPATT for the past 13 years.
Plexipave tennis surfaces are
highly regarded for a
consistent, medium speed of
play. The special mineral
fillers allow court conditions
to be replicated from site to
site and court to court. Last
year’s NCAA Division I Tennis
Championships took place at the
University of Georgia and were
played on Plexicushion®,
Plexipave’s full-cushioned
tennis surface.
Plexipave is the world's largest
manufacturer of acrylic sports
surfacing systems and surface
preparation products. Plexipave
Systems are also used at ATP and
WTA Tournaments such as Del Ray
Beach, Memphis, Indian Wells and
Los Angeles. Plexipave’s tennis
surfaces are known for their
durability, low maintenance,
vibrant long lasting colors and
overall customer value.
