For much of ASBA's membership,
the farthest thing imaginable
might be the need for sunscreen
or short sleeves in late
February. But for those who want
to make some progress and get a
jump start on the season, not to
mention help the Association
make some great strides, those
items are going to be necessary.
ASBA's 2012 Winter Meeting will
be held February 24-26 at the
Westin Resort and Casino Aruba.
That's right -- while much of
the country is shivering and
shoveling, you'll be enjoying
sunny skies and balmy weather,
AND as a volunteer, you'll be
helping the Association to move
forward with its important work.
ASBA has
opened online registration
for the meeting. Take the time
to
explore the program and to
register.
The program includes a chance to
work on ASBA's publication,
Sports Fields: A Construction
and Maintenance Manual, as well
as the opportunity to work on
position papers for the Tennis,
Track and Indoor divisions.
There will be a session to
suggest topics for the 2012
Technical Meeting.
The schedule includes free
afternoons to take advantage of
the many diversions Aruba offers
-- golf, tennis, water sports,
shopping, dining and of course,
relaxing on the beach. You won't
want to miss your chance to get
away from it all -- and to get a
big head start on all those
projects ASBA needs you for.
If you're itching for some
payback after playing tennis or
golf at the Technical Meeting,
you'll find plenty of
opportunities at the Winter
Meeting. The Tennis Tournament,
held in a laid-back round-robin
format, is offered on the
afternoon of Saturday, February
25. And while ASBA will not have
a formal golf tournament at the
Winter Meeting, there will be a
golf outing on the afternoon on
Sunday, February 26, and you can
count on friendly competition
from your fellow attendees.
