have active liaisons with each
of these organizations, and are
developing more and more
programs together and working
cooperatively on common
objectives. This is how we will
serve the most individuals and
companies with finite resources.
ASBA represents the most
talented builders, designers and
manufacturers in the world.
Companies looking to expand into
new areas of construction or
design have a tremendous pool of
experts from which to draw. 35%
of ASBA builder members now have
a certified builder on staff –
the number of certified builders
has grown by 30% in the last
year alone. The word is out that
ASBA is the place to come to
learn and be recognized.
Many thanks to Sam Fisher, CTB,
who just completed his two year
term as Chairman of ASBA in
December. Sam guided the
Association through a turbulent
economic time, and encouraged
ASBA’s leadership to focus on
the things that we “can”
control: quality education and
programming; strategic planning
for the organization; and the
importance of such things as the
certified builders program and
awards program as ways for ASBA
members to differentiate
themselves in the marketplace.
During his term as Chairman,
membership in ASBA has increased
by 6% at a time when many trade
associations have struggled.
I am honored to be serving as
the new Chairman of ASBA, and
will continue to pursue these
interests – reaching out to our
industry partners, promoting the
quality that our members
represent, and developing new
business opportunities for our
member companies. I look forward
to seeing all of you at the
upcoming Winter Meeting next
month in Aruba.
